Rebel Quilter, Susan Leslie Lumsden, has sewn for all but the first 4 of her 50+ years. Working with hand-dyed silks and cottons, metallics and the occasional commercial fabrics Lumsden creates color blends that dazzle the eye. Her emphasis is on color relationships. Most of her work has imagery on the backside that is as exciting as the front. A master on the machine, Lumsden takes the initial graphic impact and pulls you closer with her award-winning freemotion freehand machine quilting. Her skill at creating large scale pieces makes her an ideal choice for larger commercial/ corporate work. While Lumsden has shown her work at more than 100 fine art festivals and high end shows, and many prestigious exhibitions where she earned many awards, she now limits herself to exhibitions and galleries. Her work can be seen at Blue Moon Art Gallery in Hot Springs, AR, as well as Bluestem Missouri Crafts in Columbia, MO. In 2007 she earned the coveted Niche award in Quilting.
