Kathy Cooper discovered a love for painting when she made a rug
for her kitchen. Today she is a nationally recognized artist,
producing original hand-painted floorcloths. She is the author
of two best-selling books on this popular decorating trend, The
Complete Book of Floorcloths and The Weekend Crafter: Painting
Floorcloths.
"Floorcloths", Cooper says, "are paintings crafted into rugs
- a good marriage of art and craft. Cooper's particular paintings
are saturated with rich, wonderful colors. "I am a colorist. My
designs focus on the interaction of the colors. My images come
from my personal experiences - the garden, my children and all
of the visual stimulation around me. I enjoy the response of my
viewers when they are inspired by the colors I combine, when they
respond to the energy the color gives.
