ARTISTS STATEMENT

Chicago born artist Kathleen Field began quilting in 1985. Some fifteen years and hundreds of quilts latter, she is still exploring the possibilities of combining textures, patterns and colors, to create dramatic and unexpected art quilts. A sabbatical in 1998-1999 led to a thematic change in her work. Inspired by images and text, she transforms these by enlarging, reducing, and manipulating. Then, combines them into a cohesive union of color and composition.

Field's work is on permanent, rotating display at one Chicago venue, the Blind Faith Cafe in Evanston, IL.
